      A nord ella Toscana, nei pressi di Firenze, immersa nel verde della vallata del Mugello si trova l’Aviosuperficie “COLLINA”. nata nel 1970 (la seconda in Italia) grazie all’iniziativa e alla passione dei fratelli Aldo e Giuliano Modi. Sull’Aviosuperficie si trova l’officina “AVIAMODI srl” certificata E.N.A.C. ( Ente Nazionale Aviazione Civile ) adibita alla revisione e manutenzione di aerei da turismo, ultraleggeri e alianti. L’Aviosuperficie ospita aerei da turismo, ultra leggeri e un club di Volo a Vela con scuola che tutti gli anni organizza la "Festa del volo silenzioso”. Durante tutto l’anno atterrano molti turisti italiani e stranieri e, data la vicinanza con l’Autodromo del Mugello, in occasione del il Motomondiale ed altri eventi sportivi, l’aviosuperficie è oggetto di richieste da parte di compagnie di servizio passeggeri per partecipanti e spettatori. L' Aviosuperficie Collina nasce nel 1970 grazie all'iniziativa dei fratelli Aldo e Giuliano MODI, che hanno sempre avuto la passione del volo e già nel 1969 portarono il Mugello e Borgo San Lorenzo alla ribalta delle cronache costruendo un elicottero su proprio progetto, il pimo autocostruito in Italia, suscitando l'interesse di personaggi come Corradino D'Ascanio (progettista della Vespa Piaggio), l'allora Capo di Stato Maggiore dell'Aeronautica Militare gen. Duilio Fanali ecc... Questo elicottero al momento si trova al Museo Caproni di Trento su richiesta della contessa Maria Fede Caproni. I fratelli hanno poi ricostruito un biplano Bücker 131 I-MODJ (ex I-BRIK). Nell'arco degli anni Aldo Modi e il suo biplano, hanno contribuito a diffondere un'immagine positiva del Mugello. L'aviosuperficie, infatti, è stata messa a disposizione della comunità: Pro-loco; società per la vigilanza e servizio Antincendio; scuola di Guerra Aerea; Reggimento Tosco-Emiliano per esercitazioni di soccorso aereo... Oggi sull' Aviosuperficie Collina hanno sede Protezione Civile, VAB (Vigilanza Antincendi Boschivi) e Soccorso Alpino. Dal 1989 è stato inoltre costituito un club di Volo a Vela con relativa scuola. L'Aviosuperficie Collina è situata nei pressi del Comune di Borgo San Lorenzo, a circa 2km dal centro. Essendo situata nel cuore del Mugello, varie sono le vie attraverso le quali raggiungerla. Venendo dall'Autostrada A1 troviamo il "Barberino Designer Outlet", nel quale ad una straordinaria esperienza di shopping i visitatori possono aggiungere una stupenda escursione nel contesto storico e naturalistico del Mugello e raggiungere Firenze in mezz’ora o Bologna in meno di un’ora. Proseguendo per Via Nazionale incontriamo il Lago di Bilancino, bacino artificiale aperto al pubblico dal 1999 e luogo di attrazione turistica. Percorrendo invece la SP65 (Passo della Futa), che si ricollega a Via Nazionale, incontriamo la splendida Villa Le Maschere, nota anche come Villa Gerini, recentemente restaurata e trasformata in struttura ricettiva alberghiera. Proseguendo lungo Via Nazionale, in direzione San Piero a Sieve, è possibile ammirare il Castello di Cafaggiolo e la Villa Medicea del Trebbio, invece in località Gabbiano è possibile soggiornare al Resort Poggio dei Medici con annesso Golf Club, sede dell'Open Femminile Italiano di golf dal 1999 al 2003. Per coloro che giungono tramite la Strada Statale Passo del Giogo (SS503) è possibile ammirare l'Autodromo internazionale del Mugello e la ricostruzione mianiaturizzata di Palazzo Vecchio in Firenze, entrambi siti nel Comune di Scarperia. Provenendo da Firenze si può arrivare all'Aviosuperficie tramite la SP65 (Via Bolognese) che, in località Pratolino, costeggia Villa Demidoff ed il suo parco, che seppur spogliato nel corso dei secoli rimane uno dei più belli di tutta la Toscana. In alternativa vi si può arrivare per mezzo della Via Faentina (SS302 Strada Statale Brisighellese-Ravennate) antica strada di collegamento tra Toscana e Romagna che giunge fino a Borgo San Lorenzo. Infine, risalendo la vallata del fiume Sieve, attraverso la SS67, chi proviene dall'Aretino raggiunge il campo di volo attraversando paesi quali Rufina, famosa per il vino, e Vicchio, paese natale di Giotto e Beato Angelico.
